a
wood coffee stirrer & an plastic coffee stirrer have a conversation at a local coffee shop
You do not look like I do;
this is easy for all to see
Your color is different from my cousins and me
Though
you barely know me and I really do not know you
As I consider my past feelings for you, I realize that for years that has been true
My feelings towards you has always been bias and rude
Yes and I also have felt the same as your exterior was at best rough and crude
Your kind is of a generation of young upstarts,
trying to take your place in society
I was afraid that you were going to push me away, afraid you would replace me
A man came and talked with me the other day
I listened carefully as he began to say
“Even though you have a different appearance
yet you are really kin”
As he explained how this could be, my thoughts were ‘can you and I begin again’
How poorly I have treated you, never considering asking
you to be a friend
This man
came to me and explained that we are of the same, that you, I should not offend
I considered what he told me and realized your kind are my brothers and sisters of mine
We are made of Hydrocarbons, a common base
of all life, since the beginning of time
We are
kin, you know, so much the same
I never realized this before, and now I feel shame
Black or white, red or brown, we are cousins whether rough skin or smooth
If we but consider this to be true, I know our maker would
approve
To judge another on appearance
alone, my friend
In
the eyes and mind of our Creator certainly is a sin
You
are from a tree above the ground, basking in the sun
I am from the deep earth below, not a lot of fun
You are from a tree made of solid wood, whether white, or red or other color
While I am from the oil below, so black & gooey,
a liquid like no other
I know
now that I am from your limbs and leaves that fall all around
And eventually become buried so far beneath the ground
As we are dipped in coffee or tea, whether with sugar &
cream or without
We
must tell others, wither in quiet whisper or even a shout
‘Hey, Listen To Me, Enough Harm Has Come To Pass’
It Is Time To Embrace You Brothers
and Sisters at Last
Whether we be plastic or wood
coffee stirrers, male or female, we are alike
It is time to let go of your prejudice and bias, stop your silly fight
All from Hydro Carbons, all from the elements our Creator has made
Lets love each other, enemies no longer, becomes friends, be not afraid
All that inhabits the earth, even mankind,
is recycled, every few months or so
Every atom is replaced by another, thought you may want to know
We are all one from the same materials in the Eyes of our Creator
Lets live together in Love and Respect right know rather than later
